Listening To Our City Film Screening
Garnethill Multicultural Centre has been hosting a series of creative workshops called ‘Listening to Our City’ ran by the arts charity Tricky Hat assisted by our team at the GMC. The project involved local asylum seekers and refugees who are a big part of our community. Here is what Tricky Hat said about the project.
“Working in partnership with organisations across the city, Tricky Hat artists lead sessions in storytelling, movement, music and film to position artmaking as a mode of building social connections. Listening To Our City, has been developing and evolving since 2022. It is designed as a long-term method of co-creation, with people who have lived experience of the asylum seeking and refugee process. Working slowly and over extended periods to create new artworks which celebrate the stories of and connections between the people we work with. “
A video outcome from the sessions was screened at the Glasgow Film Theatre, which you can watch here:
We hope to deliver another series of the ‘Listening to Our City’ workshops! if this is something you would be interested in joining please send us an email at community@garnethillmc.co.uk or drop in to our centre for more information.
